10 Tips for the SANS Security Awareness Summit

Ten practical tips for getting the most out of the SANS Security Awareness Summit, released one a week in the countdown to the event.

Whether you're heading to Vegas or following from your desk, these cover how to actually work a summit: planning your agenda, meeting the right people, talking to speakers, taking notes you'll use, and arriving ready instead of frazzled.

I'm Ant Davis, official media partner for the summit, streaming live from the floor on the 27th and 28th of August and bringing the conversations and access to those who can't be there.

Plan your agenda before you go, not while you're stood in the hallway holding a coffee.

The talks get recorded. The room only happens once. Work out who you want to meet before you fly.

Go in with one real question and you'll come home with one answer that pays for the whole trip.

Plan your agenda, then leave half of it blank. The best moments were never on the schedule.

How to actually talk to a speaker, from someone who once walked past Dr Jessica Barker and said nothing.

The Vegas survival kit nobody warns first-timers about, so you're still sharp when everyone else has hit the wall.

Take notes you'll actually use. Three things done beats three hundred noted.

Be a host, not a guest. Build the community instead of just attending it.

The last week is the one that counts. Five things to sort before you fly.

I'm Going to Vegas. Come Find Me.

The SANS Security Awareness and Culture Summit is the biggest gathering of security awareness and culture professionals on the planet. This August, it's at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, and I'll be there as Official Media Partner.

That means I'll be on the floor the whole event, filming, interviewing practitioners, and bringing the real conversations back to the wider community. Whether you make it to Vegas or not, you'll hear what's being said in the rooms where this industry figures itself out.

If you work in security awareness, human risk, or security culture, this is the one event worth the flight.

What I'm Doing There

Official Media Partner
I'm covering the Summit and taking it to the people who can't be there. Live content across LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok throughout the event. Practitioner interviews, floor coverage, and honest takes on what's actually happening.

Panel Moderator
I'll be moderating a panel at the Summit, bringing practitioners together to dig into what's really working in security awareness right now.

Last Year's Event

Last year we proved the concept. This year we go big!
